The word around town ~Rebecca Pidgeon

There is a rose in Spanish Harlem
A red rose up in Spanish Harlem
She is a special one,
Shes never seen the sun
She only comes out when the moon is on the run
And all the stars are gleaming
Shes growing in the street right up through the concrete
But soft and sweet and dreamin'
There is a rose in Spanish Harlem
A red rose up in Spanish Harlem
With eyes as black as coal that look down in my soul
And starts a fire there and then I lose control
I have to beg your pardon
I'm going to pick that rose
and watch her as she grows in my garden

The new york girls club這張CD是在94年HK音響節購買Rebecca Pidgeon的The Raven後,翌年再收藏的第二張CD,與第一張比較,沒有令人失望,仍然是country味道,再加上jazz的編曲,結合起來使人聽得非常舒服,錄音質素當然是Chesky Records的一貫超水準
24 Hours Of love
Slip away from your life
you pretty little wife
Take a cap to the savoy
dont forget to tip the bell boy
come upstairs room 54
do not to stood beyond the door
knock three times loud and clear
for 24 hours of love my dear

Dont be nervous dont be shy
I want you to know that i'm a nice guy
lay you down on my bed
forget the troubles in your head
I/m your oasis for a day
all the noise has gone away
Little sweet heart dont be blue
I've got 24 hours of love for you

A day of love is good for you
from golden morning into the blue
Live in style for a while
friendly service with a smile

And when the dawn comes around
you rise without a sound
slip downstairs, fix your face
pack your precious vanity case
take the bus back to your life
loving happy pretty wife
remember as you take your tea
Your 24 hours of love with me

A day of love is good for you
from golden morning into the blue
Live in style for a while
friendly service with a smile

** The word around town **
The word around town
is that you've found somebody new
Thay say your out there running round
Well I dont know and i dont say that Its true
But baby, thats the word around town
The word around town
is that you take your morning tea
In somebody else's dressing gown
A scandalous libel it seem to me
But baby thats the word around town
Preacher says ~dont cast the frist stone
And mama says I told you so
And Sister says leave well enought alone
And I cant even tell you I'm the last to know
Cause I dont know
The gossip wastes the dame day
Talking 'bout what other people do
I couldn't care less what the gossip say
That's of couse its true
The word around town
is that you've found somebody new
And I confess it starts to get me down
But It ain't you baby that makes me blue
You know it's just the word around town

Grandmother
Well, well I'm young
I'm a young girl
Well I mean
I'm a young woman
And then I guess
I'll just be a woman
Not too young
Not too old
Just right
Right in the middle
Just about right in the middle

And then well
When I guess
I'll get a little older
God willing
Guess I'll just get
A wee bit older
And then I'll be, yes that's right
An older woman
Mmm Hmm
And as the years roll on and on and on
I'll keep on getting older God willing

then well ,When I guess
Nothin' for it
I'm gonna be
If God wills it
Yes that's right
An old woman
An old old woman
And as the years roll on and on and on
I'll keep on getting older God willing

But you'll still say
I'm beautiful
I'll still be beautiful inside
And lovely to you huh Baby?
Lovely to you huh Baby?

And I'll say to them young 'uns
Hey kids!
Kids!
Gather round
Gather round me now

When your grandfather and I were young...

And as the years roll on and on and on
I'll keep on getting older God willing

Oh, mother mother, hear me father, catch me when I fall
And as the years roll on and on and on
I'll keep on getting older God willing
Oh, mother mother, hear me father, catch me when I fall
